Produktdetails

Komfort & Funktionalität

The PK80 offers generous proportions for reclining or seating, combining ergonomic foam support with the tactile comfort of aniline leather. Its minimal, open structure allows it to function as a daybed, bench, or sculptural centerpiece. Adaptable to public and private interiors, the PK80 is both a practical resting surface and an iconic statement of Scandinavian modernism.

Materialien & Oberfläche

The PK80 Daybed features a polished stainless steel frame, precision-finished to resist scratches and corrosion. The platform is constructed from solid wood, veneered in ash or black lacquer, and topped with a large mattress upholstered in premium aniline leather. The leather is hand-stitched with squared tufting, emphasizing both luxury and craftsmanship.

Konstruktion

The daybed is built on a rectangular steel frame, with a veneered wooden platform resting on cross-supports. The thick leather mattress is filled with high-density foam and upholstered with reinforced stitching to maintain form under extended use. All seams are carefully aligned, while the exposed steel structure emphasizes Kjærholm’s minimalist design approach.

Poul Kjærholm

Poul Kjærholm (1929–1980) was a Danish designer celebrated for his refined modernist furniture that combined minimalism with meticulous craftsmanship. Trained as a cabinetmaker and later at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen, he favored industrial materials such as steel, glass, and leather, elevating them with an elegance usually reserved for wood. His most iconic designs include the PK22 lounge chair (1956) and the PK80 daybed, produced by Fritz Hansen and later by Republic of Fritz Hansen. Kjærholm’s furniture embodies clarity, proportion, and subtle luxury, securing his reputation as one of Scandinavia’s foremost 20th-century designers.
