Materials & Finish

The Wagenfeld Lamp combines a cylindrical glass base with a nickel-plated metal stem and fittings. The lampshade is a hand-blown opal glass sphere, providing soft and evenly diffused light. The use of glass and metal reflects Bauhaus principles of material honesty and functional clarity.

The lamp produces warm, glare-free illumination suitable for desks, side tables, or nightstands. Its compact proportions and timeless design make it versatile for residential and professional interiors. Easy to maintain and clean, the Wagenfeld Lamp remains both a functional lighting solution and an enduring Bauhaus icon.

Comfort & Functionality

The base is crafted from thick transparent glass, precision-ground for stability and balance. The nickel-plated metal stem is mechanically fixed into the glass base and supports the electrical fitting and opal shade. All components are assembled with concealed screws and joints, preserving the lamp’s minimal geometry. Hand-blown opal glass ensures uniform light diffusion and durability.

Wilhem Wagenfeld

Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900–1990) was a German industrial designer closely associated with the Bauhaus movement. Trained initially as a silversmith, he studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar under László Moholy-Nagy and became renowned for combining artistic creativity with industrial production. His most famous creation, the 1924 Bauhaus lamp (also known as the Wagenfeld table lamp), exemplified functional clarity, modern materials, and timeless elegance. Wagenfeld later worked in glass and metal design for major manufacturers, promoting accessible, well-crafted products for everyday life. His designs embody the Bauhaus principle of uniting art and industry, establishing Wagenfeld as a pioneer of modern product design.
